You're Allowed to Feel Joy.

WHEN YOU START FEELING GUILTY FOR LAUGHING AGAIN

June 07, 20261 min read

One of the strangest parts of grief can happen when you actually start feeling a little better.

You laugh at something.

You enjoy a moment.

You have a good day.

And then almost immediately…

the guilt shows up.

You find yourself wondering:

“Should I be feeling happy?”
“Am I moving on too quickly?”
“Does this mean I’m forgetting them?”

But here’s what I want you to hear today…

Feeling joy again doesn’t mean you loved them less.

It doesn’t mean you’ve forgotten.

And it doesn’t mean their memory matters any less.

In fact, it means something important.

It means you’re human.

I remember someone telling me,

“I had a really good day yesterday… and then I felt guilty all night.”

Not because they had done anything wrong.

But because grief had convinced them that pain was somehow the price of remembering.

The truth is…

You don’t honour someone by staying miserable forever.

You honour them by carrying their memory forward while continuing to live your life.

And those two things can exist together.

I unpack this in today’s short video.

You are allowed to smile again.

From the valley to the victory…
keep moving forward.
