What’s One Small Step I Can Take Today to Start Healing?

Welcome to Part 5 of the 30-Day Healing Series.

So far, we’ve explored some of the biggest questions people ask after losing someone they love.

We’ve talked about whether healing is possible, why time alone doesn’t heal, and why you don’t have to wait until you feel ready before you begin.

Today I want to answer a question that can completely change the way you approach grief.

What’s one small step I can take today to start healing?

At first, that might sound like a simple question.

But I think it’s one of the most powerful questions you can ask yourself.

Because one of the greatest challenges in grief is that everything feels overwhelming.

You don’t just lose someone you love.

You lose routines.

You lose certainty.

You lose confidence.

Sometimes you even lose a sense of who you are.

When you’re carrying all of that, it’s easy to believe you have to somehow put your entire life back together before things will get better.

No wonder so many people feel stuck.

They’re looking at the whole mountain instead of the next step.

Imagine standing at the base of a mountain you’ve never climbed before.

You look up and can’t even see the summit.

The path twists through rocks and trees until it disappears into the distance.

If your only focus is reaching the top, you’ll probably decide it’s impossible.

But experienced hikers don’t climb mountains that way.

They don’t spend every step thinking about the summit.

They ask a much simpler question.

“Where do I put my next foot?”

Then they take another step.

And another.

Hours later, they find themselves standing somewhere they never thought they could reach.

Healing works much the same way.

You don’t have to solve every problem today.

You don’t have to know what your life will look like a year from now.

You don’t have to stop missing the person you’ve lost.

You simply need to ask yourself,

“What’s one small step I can take today?”

That step will be different for everyone.

For you, it might be getting out of the house for a short walk.

It might be accepting an invitation you’ve been avoiding.

It might be cleaning one room that’s been left untouched.

It might be writing a letter to the person you miss.

It might be calling a trusted friend and saying, “Can we grab a coffee?”

None of those things will erase your grief.

That’s not the goal.

The goal is movement.

Because movement creates momentum.

One of the biggest myths we believe is that we need motivation before we take action.

In reality, action often creates motivation.

Think about the last time you really didn’t feel like exercising.

Often the hardest part wasn’t the workout.

It was putting your shoes on.

Once you started moving, your energy changed.

Healing is often the same.

The hardest step is the first one.

Once you begin moving, hope starts to grow.

Not because your grief disappears.

But because you begin proving to yourself that your life is still moving forward.

This is one of the reasons the 30-Day Healing Experience is built around small daily actions.

I didn’t want to create something that felt overwhelming.

I wanted to create something that felt achievable.

One lesson.

One reflection.

One practical action.

Every day.

Because I’ve discovered that consistent small steps often produce bigger transformation than occasional giant leaps.

Maybe today you’ve been waiting for some dramatic breakthrough.

Instead, let me encourage you to look for one simple step.

Don’t worry about tomorrow.

Don’t worry about next month.

Don’t worry about climbing the whole mountain.

Just decide where you’ll place your next foot.

Because one small step leads to another.

Another becomes momentum.

Momentum becomes confidence.

And confidence reminds you that your story isn’t over.

If you’re ready to start taking those small daily steps, I’d love to invite you to join the 30-Day Healing Experience.

You don’t need to have everything figured out.

You just need to be willing to take the next step.

I’ll walk that journey with you.

Keep moving forward.
