Information Isn’t Enough
Have you ever finished reading a great book, listened to an inspiring podcast, or watched a powerful video… only to realise that a few weeks later, nothing had really changed?
Most of us have.
It’s not because the information wasn’t helpful.
It’s because information and transformation are not the same thing.
Information helps us understand.
Transformation happens when we begin putting what we’ve learned into practice.
Think about it this way.
You could buy the world’s best cookbook, read every recipe from beginning to end, and know exactly how each dish is prepared. But until you step into the kitchen and actually start cooking, nothing changes.
Knowledge alone never cooks a meal.
Action does.
The same is true when we’re grieving.
Many people already know the advice they’ve been given.
“Take one day at a time.”
“Be patient with yourself.”
“Lean on others.”
“Give yourself permission to heal.”
These are all good reminders.
The problem isn’t usually knowing what to do.
The problem is that grief is heavy.
When you’re carrying that weight every day, even the smallest step can feel overwhelming.
That’s why healing isn’t simply about learning more.
It’s about having the encouragement, guidance and support to keep taking those next steps, even on the difficult days.
One of the phrases I often share is this:
Information informs. Action transforms.
Today, I want to encourage you not to worry about the entire journey ahead.
Don’t focus on taking ten steps.
Focus on taking one.
One phone call.
One walk.
One journal entry.
One conversation.
One healthy decision.
One small act of courage.
Small steps may not feel significant in the moment, but over time they become the path that leads us forward.
Over the past few weeks, I’ve been working on something designed to help people do exactly that—not just learn about healing, but begin living it one step at a time.
I’ll share more with you later this week.
For today, my encouragement is simple.
Take one small step.
Then tomorrow, take another.
Because every journey from the valley to victory begins with a single step.
Keep moving forward
